Must be the gumbo; DBH nets 26 [Basketball]
He is a proud Alaskan, but Hydaburg’s Damen Bell-Holter might love Louisiana a little more right now.
The Oral Roberts senior turned in the best weekend series of his basketball career in the Gulf Coast state, answering his 35-point, 14-rebound performance two nights ago with a 26-point, 4-block showing tonight.
Bell-Holter, of Ketchikan High fame, and Oral Roberts beat Nicholls State 76-63 in Thibodaux, La.
“I’m just working hard in the post and giving my teammates targets,” he told me. “I’m letting the game come to me rather than forcing it.”
In his last two games, the 6-foot-9 center has made 23-of-33 field goals and 15-of-19 free throws.
He tied his career high with four blocked shots, bringing his career total to 108, sixth place on the ORU career chart.
“I want to be dominant because I have so much to prove,” said Bell-Holter, who plans to play professionally. “I’m not done at all. I want to keep improving.”
