Two nights after missing a wide-open game-winning 3-pointer in Portland, Anchorage’s Mario Chalmers of the Miami Heat more than redeemed himself in Sacramento.

The former Alaska player of the year equaled a club record and set an arena record with 10 3-pointers en route to scoring a career-high 34 points in a 128-99 victory.

Chalmers, of Bartlett High fame, is used to hitting the big shot.

So when he didn’t the other night, it had an effect.

“I still had that in the back of my mind,” he told the South Florida Sun Sentinel. “Any time when I get a good look, I always want to make the shot. I just wanted to come out and try to put that behind me.”

He did it on just 13 attempts [77%].

In an NBA game!

Chalmers now shares the Heat record with Brian Shaw. He broke the Sacramento arena record of nine 3s held by Mike Bibby and Antoine Walker.
