Bookert now starting at Florida St. [Basketball]

Devon Bookert

It was only a matter of time before Anchorage’s Devon Bookert broke into the starting lineup for Florida State.

Now that he has, the Seminoles are better for it.

Bookert today continued his fabulous freshman season, earning his second consecutive start and handing off a career-best eight assists in a 69-66 win over Boston College in ACC play.

The 6-foot-3 guard chipped in five points, but more importantly he did not turn the ball over while running the offense. That’s probably more impressive than anything.

Bookert, of West High fame, also started three days ago against No. 3 Miami and pumped in 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting. It was his fifth time in double figures.

He has averaged 5.4 points and 2.3 assists in 25 games.

The only other Alaska men to start for an ACC team were Trajan Langdon and Carlos Boozer at Duke.
