Davis, Todd going to D2 Indoor Nationals [Track]
Two University of Colorado-Colorado Springs track stars from Alaska are headed to Alabama next week for the NCAA D2 Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Anthony Davis of Fairbanks will compete as part of the distance medley relay team on March 8. The UCCS team has the seventh-fastest time among the dozen in the men’s field.
Davis, of Lathrop High fame, helped the distance medley relay team break the school record earlier this season with an altitude and track-adjusted time of 9:53.
The senior also earned All-RMAC honors in the 800 meters this year after finishing fifth in the conference meet in 1:56, just more than a quarter second off his season-best.
Jessica Todd of Anchorage will also be running the distance medley relay at the national championships.
The sophomore helped her team run a qualifying time of 11:51, ranking it 11th out of the 14 teams in the women’s field.
Todd, of Dimond High fame, was also named to the all-region team.
She ran an indoor-best 1:01 in the 400, nearly cracking the top 10 in the RMAC. She established a personal best in the 200 in 27.64.
