There is a college tennis team nicknamed the Polar Bears getting a big lift from a player from Alaska.
Go figure.
Anchorage’s Emma Lewis has won six of seven doubles matches as Bowdoin College has started the season 7-0 in NCAA D3 action.
Bowdoin has beaten four nationally ranked teams during its winning streak.
Lewis, of South High fame, and teammate Kellen Alberstone improved to 6-1 at women’s No. 2 doubles after a 9-7 win over a team from No. 21 Trinity College.
Lewis has 38 career wins in doubles.
The former Alaska state champion is a junior at Bowdoin, a liberal arts school in Maine.
