After a rough start to the season, David Cotton of Anchorage has found his stroke again.

The Occidental College junior picked up his first wins of the season in singles and doubles last week, keeping his career record above .500 in the combined events.

Cotton, of West High fame, beat Taylor Dickey of Pacific Lutheran 6-3, 6-3 at men’s No. 5 singles. Later, he and doubles teammate Jeremy Kirchoff won 9-7.

He had dropped his first three singles matches in straight sets.

The 5-foot-11 player has now compiled nine career victories, going 7-3 in doubles and 2-5 in singles.

Occidental College is a NCAA D3 school in Los Angeles.
