He didn’t win again, but Jordan Clarke of Anchorage did something was almost just as good.

The senior track star at Arizona State University had a new career-best mark of 217 feet, 7 inches in the hammer throw at the Sun Angel Classic in Tempe.

Clarke, of Bartlett High fame, improved upon his third best mark in school history.

Sadly, though, his seven-meet winning streak was snapped.

Oh, the guy that beat him? Canadian Olympian Jim Steacy, who won with a throw of 234-08.

Clarke now holds the nation’s fifth-best hammer throw in an event where he finished as a second-team All-American last season.

Most of his success in college has come in the shot put, where he is a four-time NCAA champion and easily the best in the country.
