Seward’s Denali Foldager of Cal State Stanislaus improved her NCAA D2 provisional qualifier time recently in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

A two-time all-conference pick in the event, the senior ran a time of 11:04.28, which was nearly a full second faster than the time she posted last month.

Foldager, of Seward High fame, last qualified for the NCAA Championships in 2010.

“This season is a roller coaster,” she told me. “I’m in real good shape. I just haven’t had my one race, still waiting for that good race.

She hopes it comes at next week’s Mt. SAC Relays. If not then, then at the conference championships shortly after.

“I just want to hit it,” Foldager said. “I don’t want to ever run a friggin’ twilight meet again. My goal is I want to win conference and then I want to be secure to go to Nationals.”
