Alaska Sports Hall of Fame

Former UAF head coach Al Sokaitis of Fairbanks on June 22 will be inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame. He has guided three different programs to the NCAA Tournament and set records for winning at eight different stops. He’s also won Coach of the Year honors 11 times. In Alaska, he’s best known for leading the Nanooks to the 2002 Top of the World Classic – the only D2 men’s team in NCAA history to win a D1 tournament. He currently coaches at Post University in New York.
