Long Island Ducks pitcher Matt Way of Sitka got back on track in his last start to earn his first win in nearly a month.

The southpaw allowed just three hits and one run over six innings in a 5-2 win over Camden in Atlantic League action.

Way, of Sitka High fame, was 0-2 with an ugly ERA in his last two starts.

It didn’t help that he had the flu.

Still, he managed a quality start nonetheless.

“I was still real weak coming off that flu,” Way told me. “I hit a wall in the fifth and made it through one more [inning] before they pulled me.

“I was able to locate, which is why I was able to have a decide start still.”

Way improved to 4-2 in seven career starts for the Ducks. He joined the team late last season as a hired gun for the playoffs and helped Long Island win the league championship.

He is 16-10 in his last 26 decisions as a professional.
