Griffin scores WNBA career-high 16 [Basketball]
June 23, 2013
The starting small forward today delivered a career-high 16 points, including the go-ahead, three-point play with 58 seconds left.
Sadly, it was all for naught as Atlanta won 78-77.
Griffin, of Chugiak High fame, surpassed her previous career high of 14 set last year.
It nearly matched the record for most points scored in a WNBA game by an Alaska player. That distinction belongs to Sitka’s Andrea Lloyd-Curry, who scored 17 points for the Minnesota Lynx in 1999.
Griffin made 6-of-9 shots from the floor and 4-of-5 free throws in 23 minutes. Her plus/minus rating was +5.
Griffin has averaged a career-high 8.4 points in her first eight games this season.
