This is why they traded for him.

Barcelona today got its money’s worth from North Pole native Brad Oleson, who pumped in a team-high 17 points in an 84-62 victory over Gran Canaria in Spain.

With the win, Barcelona swept the best-of-3 series to earn a spot in the Spanish League Finals.

Oleson, of UAF fame, sank 7-of-9 shots from the field, including three 3-pointers.

The 6-foot-3 starter had averaged 9 points in the first two games of the series.

He finished 14-for-24 from the floor in the three games and now enters the finals playing his best basketball of the season.

In 2010, Oleson won his first Spanish League championship when he led underdog Caja Laboral to the upset over top-ranked Barcelona.

Three years later, Oleson is playing for Barcelona after a January trade.

Barcelona will face Real Madrid.

Oleson will likely matchup with former NBA point guard Rudy Fernandez.
