Matt Way

Matt Way of Sitka threw five innings of shutout ball to collect his third win of the season for the Long Island Ducks in a 9-6 victory in the Atlantic League.

It’s the left-hander’s first clean sheet since April 25.

Way, of Sitka High fame, left the game with a 7-0 lead. He is now 3-4 with a 4.37 ERA in 10 starts this year.

It was Way’s 28th career win in the minors, ranking him third among Alaskans, trailing Chris Mabeus [30] and Marshall Boze [62].

Way struck out five, giving him 347 in 359 career innings.

Dylan Baker

Juneau’s Dylan Baker also allowed no earned runs in seven innings of work during an 11-3 victory over Dayton in the Midwest League.

It was the longest pro outing for the 21-year-old righty.

He had six strikeouts. Even better, he had no walks for the first time in 10 starts this year.

He did allow two unearned runs, but it didn’t prevent him from improving to 3-5 on the season. He also lowered his ERA to 4.08.
