Winford honored by NABC [Basketball]

Former Eastern Washington University hoops star Kevin Winford of Anchorage has been honored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches for his skills on and off the court.

A four-time member of the Big Sky All-Academic team, Winford missed the last six games of his career with an injury. He started 47 of the 113 career games – the fifth-most in school history. He made 138-of-409 3-pointers in his career to rank fifth in school history in both categories.

Winford, of Bartlett High fame, started 12 of the 25 games as a senior and averaged 6.1 points and 2.4 assists. He scored 704 points for his career.

He made 66 3-pointers in the 2010-11 season to rank sixth in single season school history and his 187 attempts are fifth. He owns school records for single game 3-pointers made [10] and attempted [23] when he pumped in a career high 39 points – fifth-best in school history – against New Hope in 2010.
