Carver named captain at Seattle Pacific [Soccer]

September 13, 2013

Soldotna striker Blaine Carver has proven to be one of the greatest goal scorers in the history of Seattle Pacific University.

But now he’s got a new goal – being a good captain.

The 5-foot-10 senior was named one of two captains for the NCAA D2 Falcons.

“I’m honored to be a big part of the leadership of the team,” he told me.

Carver, of Soldotna High fame, has amassed career 18-4—40 totals, making him one of the most successful Alaska soccer players ever.

His 18 career goals rank him eighth on the all-time Seattle Pacific list and his seven game-winning goals ranks him 15th in GNAC history. He also ranks ninth in conference history with a .191 scoring percentage [18 for 94].

“Really trying to soak up everything in these last few months of soccer, trying to not take anything for granted,” Carver said.
