Abdul-Bassit ready to shine at U of O [Basketball]

October 25, 2013

He hasn’t even played a game for the University of Oregon yet, but Jalil Abdul-Bassit of Anchorage is sure of one thing when he does.

“[Fans] are going to see me score, see me shoot a lot of 3s, see me make a lot of 3s,” he told goducks.com at media day.

The 6-foot-4 junior guard certainly doesn’t lack confidence – a crucial element to a shooter’s success.

Abdul-Bassit, of West High fame, figures to come off the bench for Oregon. This is his first season with the Ducks after playing his previous two years at Monroe [N.Y.] and North Idaho College, where his dad played. His dad is legendary Anchorage player Muff Butler.

Last year, Abdul-Bassit averaged 13 points and shot 39 percent from 3-point land.
