Ketchikan’s Isaac Updike continues to rewrite the record book at Eastern Oregon University.
A year after winning a national title in track, the senior runner ran the third-fastest time
in cross country.
Updike clocked an 8-K time of 24 minutes, 10 seconds to finish third in Saturday’s Inland Empire Championships in Lewiston, Idaho.
Junior Hans Roelle of Anchorage clocked the school’s 15th fastest time at 25:00.
Together, they helped eighth-ranked Eastern Oregon nearly upset, losing by just five points to the No. 4 NAIA team, meet host Lewis Clark State College.
This is the second-fastest EOU team in school history, according to coach Ben Welch.
