A pair of Anchorage soccer players scored big goals to help their college teams win their first game of the season.

Jordan Edwards of The Master’s College in California provided the tying goal in the 81st minute of a 3-2 victory over Bethesda in NAIA action, snapping a five-game winless streak by the Mustangs.

Edwards, of Grace Christian fame, fought his way through a group of defenders and slammed the ball into the back of the net for his second goal of the season. It was also the fourth career goal for the junior defender.

In Springfield, Ill., Leah Camery provided a 1-0 victory for Missouri Science and Technology over Illinois Springfield.

The freshman forward broke the scoreless tie in the 64th minute when she knocked home a loose ball during a scrum in the box.

It was the first goal of the season for Camery, of Service High fame.
