Fenumiai is latest Juneau player to star for Peninsula College
November 28, 2013
The women’s basketball coaches at Peninsula College in Port Angeles, Wash., must think everybody in Juneau can play ball.
Gabi Fenumiai is the most recent hoops star to start for the Pirates of the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges.
The 6-foot freshman leads the entire league with 13 rebounds per game through four games. Her season high is 15.
Fenumiai, of Juneau-Douglas High fame, is also averaging 10.5 points.
She has followed in the footsteps of Juneau’s Taylor Larson and Karli Brakes, who last year helped Peninsula reach the NWAACC Tournament.
Larson, who tore her ACL in the regular-season finale, was named conference MVP and Brakes led the NWAACC in assists at 5.96 per game.
