Hall of Fame Class of ’14 draws near record voters
December 6, 2013
A total of 1,600 people voted for the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2014, the third highest vote total in the eight-year history of the Hall.
Last year 1,750 people voted. The record is 2,000.
“We received a great deal of positive feedback from the public about the voting process,” said executive director Harlow Robinson. “The inductee bios have added an educational component to the process. A lot of school groups voted as a school project. It’s given young Alaskans an opportunity to learn about some of our legends and old Alaskans a chance to reflect on how accomplished our state’s athletes are.”
The Class of ’14 will be announced Monday.
