Klie shines in front of friends, named UCSD Athlete of the Week
The UC-San Diego freshman guard accounted for 19 points, eight rebounds and three steals – all career highs – in a 77-59 win over Academy of Art in NCAA D2 play.
Just three days earlier, he had pumped in 14 points in 13 minutes against St. Katherine.
For his efforts, Klie was named men’s Triton Athlete of the Week.
Last year’s Alaska player of the year is nicely growing into his role with his team, coming off the bench to rank third in scoring [11.8] after four games.
The 6-foot-4 guard is shooting 64 percent [18-for-28] to go along with a 4.8 rebounding average.
Last week, Klie led UCSD in points, offensive rebounds and shooting percentage.
