Mattson scores career high, earns first college assist in Portland win

Hannah Mattson BasketballFreshman Hannah Mattson of Fairbanks continues to make the most of her playing time for the University of Portland.

The 5-foot-9 guard logged six minutes in a 72-51 win over San Diego and made both shots as well as earning her first assist at the NCAA D1 level.

She matched her season high of five points for the third time in 11 games.

Mattson, of West Valley fame, also made a 3-pointer and grabbed a rebound, cramming a lot of stats into a limited amount of action on the court.

She is averaging 6.5 minutes per game while collecting totals of 21 points and 10 rebounds. She has made 6 of 20 shots, with 15 attempts coming from 3-point range.
