Sherman-Newsome bags first collegiate double-double

Damon Sherman NewsomeGiven how well he has played this season, it was only a matter of time before Damon Sherman-Newsome of Anchorage picked up his first double-double in college.

It happened last night in Easton, Pa., where Colgate beat Lafayette 75-68 behind his 14 points and career-high 10 rebounds.

The 6-foot-5 junior continued his run to win Patriot League Sixth Man of the Year honors, raising his scoring average to 11.6 in 20 games.

Sherman-Newsome, of Bartlett High fame, has eclipsed the 14-point mark eight times this season, highlighted by his career-high 25.

He went 4-for-4 at the free-throw line and has sank 24 of his last 26 fouls shots.
