Derrick Wilson BasketballRunning the point for Marquette University, Derrick Wilson of Anchorage got the offense in rhythm but couldn’t get his team to the winner’s circle.

The Golden Eagles fell 94-85 to Big East rival Villanova in Milwaukee despite Wilson’s six points, five rebounds and seven assists.

This was the first time Marquette eclipsed the 80-point mark in back-to-back games since December. His seven assists were the second-most he’s had in a game and were three shy of his career high.

Wilson, of East High fame, is finally starting and earning consistent playing time after paying his dues the first two seasons. As a result the junior guard is having his finest season with 5.1-points, 4.2-rebound, 3.8-assist averages in 18 games.
