Alaskans continue EISA title dominance for Vermont
Sophomore Stephanie Kirk of Anchorage has never won a college ski race before the month of February.
Now she’s won back-to-back races.
One week after helping the University of Vermont women’s 3x5K relay team become victorious, Kirk captured her first individual win today at the Eastern Intercollege Ski Association Championships at Middlebury, Vt.
Kirk, of South High fame, won the women’s 10K freestyle event to help the Catamounts claim their fourth straight EISA title and second consecutive undefeated carnival season.
She was seventh in the 5K classic race the day before.
Vermont also includes Anchorage’s Scott Patterson, one of the best U23 skiers in the country.
He finished second in both men’s races this weekend, denying the two-time NCAA All-American from adding to his 13 career win total.
Look for Patterson to contend for a NCAA championship in March.
