Lasher coming on strong, earns first start for Houston Baptist
The 6-foot-7 freshman forward just earned his first career college start against Lamar and is getting more playing time since the Huskies entered Southland Conference play.
Lasher, of Dimond High fame, is among nine Alaska men playing NCAA D1 basketball this year.
Here is a breakdown of his season:
In his first eight games, he averaged 9.3 minutes, 2.2 points and 1.8 rebounds.
In his last eight games, he has averaged 14.7 minutes, 3.8 points and 2.4 rebounds.
His development demonstrates his ability to pick up the playbook and make those physical and mental adjustments that usually keep most freshmen on the bench.
But Lasher is proving to be a quick study.
He played a season-high 20 minutes when he started Thursday night and grabbed five rebounds. The game before that he scored eight points and had five rebounds.
He scored a season-high nine points earlier this season against Pepperdine.
