Anchorage’s Jani Lane crushed the competition for Michigan Tech in the men’s 800-meter race at the Rex Foster Invitational in Wisconsin.

The sophomore ran a national provisional time of 1:52.02 as he beat the second-place guy by a full four seconds.

His time was the fifth fastest time in Michigan Tech history and bested his previous personal best by a full second.

Lane, of Service High fame, was named Michigan Tech’s Rookie of the Year last year as freshman. He posted the then-10th fastest time in school history in the 800 at 1:53.13.

He also runs cross country and skis for Huskies.
