Laws doesn’t miss a shot, leads team to playoff win in Brazil

Andre Laws BasketballIt was the biggest game of the year and Andre Laws was feeling it.

The 34-year-old Anchorage guard delivered one of the greatest performances of his pro career, scoring 20 points on perfect shooting to lead Sao Jose to an 80-70 victory over Palmeiras in Brazil.

Sao Jose now leads the best-of-five series 2-0 with Game 3 Sunday, moving one win from reaching the quarterfinals of the NBB playoffs.

Laws, of East High fame, sank 7-for-7 shots from the field, including all four 3-point attempts. He also made both free throws. The 6-foot-1 starting guard pumped in 16 points in the series opener.

It was the fourth time in 33 games this season that he reached the 20-point plateau. He is averaging 11 per game.
