Big minutes equates to big production for Griffin in WNBA

Kelsey Griffin BasketballProfessional basketball player Kelsey Griffin of Eagle River is finally getting the playing time she deserves and the results are impressive.

The 6-foot-2 starter for the Connecticut Sun is averaging a career-best 8.3 rebounds after the first four games of the season.

The fifth-year WNBA player has grabbed 9, 11 and 8 rebounds in her last three games. She averaged 5.0 boards in 34 games last year.

Griffin, of Chugiak High fame, has seen an increased in her playing time since logging only 12 minutes in the season opener. Since then she’s played no fewer than 28 minutes over the last three games.

She is scoring 5.8 points on 36 percent shooting.
