Registe jumps to gold medal at CAC Games in Mexico

November 27, 2014

David Registe Track and FieldThanksgiving will never be the same for Palmer’s David Registe.

He’ll always remember it as the day he reached the pinnacle of his track and field career by winning a gold medal at the annual Central American and Caribbean Games in Mexico.

Representing his home country of Dominica, the 26-year-old former UAA national champion won with a leap of 7.79 meters [25 feet, 5 inches].

The winning jump came on Registe’s final attempt.

So clutch.

This ranks as his greatest achievement in the professional track ranks, besting the silver medal he won at the 2011 Pan American Games.

In July, he qualified for the long jump finals at the Commonwealth Games in Scotland.

Registe, of Colony High fame, was the Alaska state champion in 2006 and 2005.
