The injured U.S. Paralympic Alpine Team skier told me he will be part of the ESPN broadcast team that will be announcing live at the X Games next month in Colorado.

“I am very excited to be announcing at the X Games,” he said. “So tune in.”

The 22-year-old World Cup champion will provide analysis for events such as MonoX, SnowboarderX and adaptive snowboarding.

Kurka is currently recovering from a recent broken leg suffered after a collision with another skier during training on Aspen Mountain. He fractured his right femur.

He vowed to be back on the slopes soon. And as always, he was in good spirits about a comeback.

“I am going to be getting a few more weeks to get pumped up to defend my World Cup title,” he said. “Luckily for me it happened early enough in the season that I’ll have plenty of time to prepare and repair myself before the first World Cup races in January.”
