Back in starting lineup, Mattson enjoys instant success

Hannah Mattson BasketballNow that she’s starting again for the University of Portland women’s basketball team, Hannah Mattson of Fairbanks is finding her way into the scoring column a lot more.

The sophomore has scored a season-best 8 points in back-to-back starts to help nearly double her season scoring average [2.4] with the NCAA D1 team in Oregon.

The 5-foot-9 guard has made 6-of-8 field goals in those two games in addition to grabbing six rebounds and making two steals.

She played a season-high 28 minutes against Santa Clara. Then today against San Francisco she had 8 points and 4 rebounds in 18 minutes.

Mattson, of West Valley High fame, has earned 15 starts in 42 career games.
