Jesse Ellis BasketballWhen the Central Methodist University women’s basketball team needs to ice a game from the free-throw line, it turns to Skagway’s Jesse Ellis, who must have ice-water in her veins.

The senior guard has been money at the foul line this season, making 33-of-37 attempts to lead the NAIA Heart of America Athletic Conference at .892 percent.

Ellis made 4-of-5 free throws, including a pair with 25 seconds left, to help Central Methodist hold off Avila 71-62 in Missouri.

She finished with 17 points, including eight during a terrific two-minute stretch late in the second half.

This was the 10th time she’d reached double figures in 13 games this season.

Ellis, of Skagway High fame, is averaging 11.7 points and 7.4 rebounds.
