Laws, Wells key Western Wyoming win; team now 17-5

Jarred Laws of Anchorage and Tyler Wells of Fairbanks each reached double figures as Western Wyoming Community College beat Central Wyoming College 75-65.

Jarred Laws basketballLaws started at guard and scored 11 points on the strength of three 3-pointers.

Wells came off the bench to collect 10 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals.

Western Wyoming improved to 17-5 in the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Laws, of East High fame, ranks second on the team in scoring at 12 points in 21 games. He has bagged 18 points or more in four games, with a high game of 20.

The sophomore is shooting 36 percent from 3-point land on the season, including 42 percent [20-for-48] over his last six games.

Laws has drained as many as six 3s in one game.

Tyler Wells basketballWells, of Monroe Cathloic fame, has played well in relief and leads the team in free-throw shooting at 87 percent.

The freshman small forward is averaging 4.4 points and 2.4 rebounds in 13.4 minutes. He has scored a season-high 16.

Wells is shooting 35 percent on 3-pointers and hit five in one game.
