Nani Ostrom basketballLauded by her coach for working hard behind the scenes, Pacific University women’s basketball player Nani Ostrom of Juneau is starting to see the limelight.

The senior guard took her game to another level last week with a career-high 19 points against Linfield followed by an 18-point performance against Lewis & Clark.

Her excellent effort was good enough to get recognized by a news group, Women Play Ball, which named her NCAA Division 3 Player of the Week.

“Nani played two outstanding games over the weekend to help lead our team to two road victories,” Pacific coach Sharon Rissmiller told the school’s website. “I am ecstatic for Nani to be recognized because of all her hard work. She is a true team player and a fantastic person that gives her best effort at all times.”

Ostrom is averaging a career-high 11.2 points in 12 games this season. She has reached double figures six times, including the last three games.
