February 7, 2015

Adam Klie BasketballUC San Diego sophomore Adam Klie of Anchorage was already playing at a high level in the California Collegiate Athletic Conference.

But over the last five games he’s taken his game to another level.

The 6-foot-4 guard is averaging 15.4 points during that stretch while shooting .610 from the field and .800 from the foul line.

The former Alaska player of the year logged a career-high 41 minutes and scored 17 points in tonight’s 67-66 loss in double OT to Cal State Stanislaus.

Klie, of Service High fame, continued his improved free-throw shooting. He has drained 24 of his last 30 attempts, raising his season percentage to .659.

He’s shooting his free throws better and getting to the line more. He averaged 3.5 attempts the first 15 games; 6.0 the last five.

Klie ranks second in the CCAA in field-goal percentage [.601].

He needs just five more points to reach the 500 mark for his career. He has averaged 10.7 points in 46 career games.
