Derrick Wilson BasketballDerrick Wilson of Anchorage showed how valuable he is to the Marquette University men’s basketball team by never coming off the court in an 87-76 loss to sixth-ranked Villanova in Wisconsin.

The senior guard played all 40 minutes for the second time this season, and posted season highs with 10 points and 8 assists.

Running the point, he committed just one turnover. One!

Wilson, of East High fame, is one of the top defensive guards in the Big East Conference.

Yet even he marveled at Villanova.

“They’re a great offensive team,” he told reporters. “Obviously, that’s why they’re ranked in the Top 10 in the country. That’s a team that’s tough to defend.”

Wilson is averaging 5.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 26 games.
