Iziah Sherman Newsome BasketballEager to return to the basketball court after his worst shooting performance, Iziah Sherman-Newsome of Anchorage bounced back with his best shooting night.

The freshman went 4-for-4 from 3-point range to help the New York Institute of Technology beat second-place Bridgeport 114-103 in East Coast Conference play.

Sherman-Newsome, of Bartlett High fame, finished with a season-high 12 points. It was also the first time he’d cracked double figures in college.

He was coming off a 0-for-5 game.

The 6-foot-4 guard is averaging 3.7 points in 20 games.

It was the biggest win of the year for NYIT, which is riding a 4-1 streak to improve to 10-16 with seven NCAA D2 games left.
