Lucas Updike RunningThey’ve spent their entire lives pushing each other to run faster, so it’s nice to see brothers Lucas and Isaac Updike of Ketchikan working together for the Eastern Oregon University track team.

One week after posting two of the top three 5,000-meter times in all of NAIA this season, Lucas posted a national B qualifying time and Isaac broke a school record.

It all went down at the Willamette Invitational in Oregon.

Lucas, a senior, won the 5,000 B heat in impressive fashion. Never mind that it was only his second 5K on a track, he clocked a time of 14:58.96 to win by 25 seconds.

He just squeaked under the NAIA B qualifying standard of 14:59.

His previous PR from last year was 15:41.

Isaac Updike Cross Country RunningIsaac, a senior, ran in the 5,000 A heat in the last event of the game. He put on a show, running his way to the NAIA lead and school record 14:17.28 to finish second behind a post collegiate runner.

He sat back in eighth place before making a move over the last mile.

His previous best was 14:58.97 set two years ago.
