August 15, 2015

Zack Bowman FootballZack Bowman of Anchorage must have felt weird walking into Chicago’s Soldier Field the other night.

For six years between 2008 and 2013 he played for the Bears.

On Thursday, though, he arrived as a visiting player for the first time.

The 30-year-old defensive back is now with the Miami Dolphins after playing for the New York Giants last year.

Bowman, of Bartlett High fame, recorded four tackles and a pass deflection in a 27-10 loss to the Bears during Week 1 of NFL preseason action.

He has played in 89 career NFL games, including all 16 in each of the last two seasons, and ranks No. 2 among Alaskans with 12 interceptions and three touchdowns.

Bowman has picked off five passes over the last two years, returning one of them 43 yards in 2013 for his first career pick 6.

His other two touchdowns came in 2008 and 2012, both off recovered fumbles.

Bowman’s 12 interceptions trail only Reggie Tongue’s record 17. Tongue is also No. 1 among Alaskans with five NFL TDs.
