Lewis nets first goal since 2013 for Alabama State
The Alabama State University forward from Anchorage is back to her scoring ways after coming back from a knee injury that cost her last season.
She scored and added an assist in a 3-2 loss to Troy in her second game since her return.
It was her first goal since Nov. 8, 2013.
“Having her back on the field and running confident is a big like having a new recruit that teams didn’t face last year,” ASU coach Jodie Smith told the school’s website.
Lewis, of course, isn’t some newbie. She’s one of best players in the Southwest Athletic Conference.
She was a Preseason All-SWAC Second Team pick despite not playing last season.
Lewis, of Dimond High fame, has accumulated 16 goals and 10 assists in 24 career games.
As a freshman she matched the school record by scoring in five consecutive games and her six-match point streak ranks No. 1 in school history.
