Perkins going back to Turkey to embark on 11th pro season

Doron Perkins of Anchorage has played professional basketball is so many countries he’s started to double back.

The 32-year-old guard is headed back to Turkey, where he will play for Yesilgiresun Belediye of the first division. The league is part of the Euroleague series.

Perkins, of Bartlett High fame, previously played for Turkish power Besiktas two years ago. He averaged 11.1 points in 24 games.

The 6-foot-3 playmaker has extensive experience at the international level during his 10 seasons as a pro. He’s also played in Greece, Ukraine, China, Germany, Belgium, Japan, Israel, Italy and last year Russia.

His 55 Euroleague appearances are third most among Alaskans, trailing only Brad Oleson of North Pole and Trajan Langdon of Anchorage.

Perkins is an exceptional perimeter defender and he rebounds like a forward.

He has scored nearly 4,300 points as a pro. His career high is 28.
