South Dakota State University quarterback Zach Lujan of Anchorage threw for a career-high 395 yards and tied a career best with three touchdown passes as the Jackrabbits beat Robert Morris 34-10 on the gridiron.

His fine work was rewarded by the Missouri Valley Football Conference when he was named the league’s Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

The junior completed 25-of-43 passes and his 395 yards tied for second most in a game by a SDSU quarterback. The record is 460. His 404 yards of total offense rank sixth.

Lujan, of South High fame, was sacked once and reportedly looked comfortable standing in the pocket for long stretches while he surveyed the field.

“I think that was our offensive line’s best game of the season,” Lujan told argusleader.com. “To see that improvement game-to-game is really outstanding. We go as they go. They did an outstanding job.”

Lujan is now 8-2 as the Jackrabbits starter dating back to last season. The team is 3-0 this year.
