Just a freshman, Tara Fisher of Eagle River probably didn’t figure to get much playing time as one of four goalkeepers on the Boise State University women’s soccer roster.

She represented the future.

The future is now.

Fisher was elevated to starting keeper at the beginning of the month and has been in goal for the last three games for the NCAA D1 Broncos.

She had played in just three of the team’s first 12 games, coming in relief in each case.

After the team mustered just two wins, though, it changed keepers and called on Fisher to start.

After getting roughed up in her debut at Fresno State she settled down to post back-to-back wins over UNLV 4-0 and Nevada 3-1.

The shutout was her first clean sheet.

Fisher, of Eagle River High game, went a total of 191 minutes between goals.
