When Aaron Fletcher of Anchorage graduated high school in 2009, most of his teammates on the nationally ranked BYU cross country team were in middle school.

He’s the second-oldest runner on the team, but age hasn’t slowed him down.

Fletcher was the only BYU senior to score points for the ninth-ranked Cougars as they finished second among 30 ranked teams at the adidas Wisconsin Invitational.

He was second among BYU runners and 18th overall out of 244 finishers at the largest college cross country meet to date.

Fletcher, of South High fame, crossed the tape in the 8-K race in 23 minutes, 52.1 seconds. He outran a pack of runners from Columbia, South Dakota State, Iona and Illinois at the end.

This was his 12th career top-20 finish. He began running at BYU in 2009, although he missed two seasons serving his Mormon mission in Poland.
