If Kelsey Griffin of Eagle River was supposed to look rusty in her return to the basketball court for the first time since March, she didn’t get the memo.

The 28-year-old forward led the Bendigo Spirit to a resounding 68-37 season-opening win over defending WNBL champion Townsville in Australia.

Griffin, of Chugiak High fame, was the player of the game, collecting game-high totals of 19 points, eight rebounds and six steals. She added four assists.

The 6-foot-2 former University of Nebraska All-American suffered a hip injury during a preseason WNBA game that forced her to miss the entire season in the States.
