Anchorage’s Jordan Smelker made a little history in the National Women’s Hockey League.

The 22-year-old forward became the first Alaskan to score in the first-year league and she did it in her first game.

Smelker’s goal came in the second period of a 4-1 victory over the Buffalo Beauts in New York.

Her goal was featured on ESPN’s SportsCenter.

Smelker, of Service High fame, is coming off a championship season in the spring when she won a Clarkson Cup with the Boston Blades of the CWHL.

She amassed 8-7-15 totals in 22 games.

Two years ago, as a senior in college, she was named MVP of the RPI Engineers and was a finalist for the ECAC Hockey Best Defensive Forward Award.
