Togiak’s Drew Carlos and Nome’s Shayla Johnson played a huge role in helping Wenatchee Valley win a weird women’s basketball game in the first round of the Chemeketa Holiday Tournament.

The two starting sophomores combined for 31 points in a 67-37 win over the Mt. Hood Saints in Salem, Oregon.

Mt. Hood finished with just four players on the court and brought only five to the game. One fouled out with seven-plus minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Carlos, of Dillingham High fame, finished with game-high totals of 17 points and 15 rebounds.

The 5-foot-11 wing ranks 10th in the NWAC in rebounding with a 10.8 average in 12 games.

She has reached double figures six times, highlighted with games of 15, 13 and 13 boards.
