Griffin named Australian WNBL player of the week

A monster double-double helped Kelsey Griffin of Eagle River earn player-of-the-week honors in the Australian Women’s Basketball League.

The 28-year-old forward sank 7-of-14 shots from the field en route to scoring 20 points.

The 6-foot-2 also grabbed 14 rebounds as the Bendigo Spirit beat Canberra 78-68.

Griffin, of Chugiak High fame, ranks third in the league in rebounding [9.6] and sixth in scoring [17.1].

She is also averaging 1.2 blocked shots per game while shooting .542 percent from the field.

Bendigo is 10-7, a game and a half out of first place.
