Rhoades works his way into starting lineup for Angelo State

Eagle River’s Shaquan Rhoades is making an impact on both ends of the floor for Angelo State University.

The 6-foot-2 junior transfer has worked his way into the starting lineup for the Texas squad and it has resulted in back-to-back victories.

He had a career-high six steals in an 85-75 victory over West Texas A&M. Then he had three more steals and a key bucket to highlight a 70-68 win over Eastern New Mexico.

Angelo State, a NCAA D2 team, is 14-2 on the season.

Rhoades, of Eagle River High fame, converted a fastbreak layup to get Angelo State within 67-65 with 47 seconds left, part of an 11-1 run inside the final minute.

He is averaging 4.5 points in 16 games, highlighted by his 16-point performance against Arlington Baptist.

Rhoades has made 10 of his 18 steals over the the last three games.
